x²

How to use a scientific calculator

Learn order of operations, powers, roots, logarithms, and angle modes without getting tripped up by parentheses.

Read guide

Start with the expression inside parentheses, then evaluate powers and roots, multiplication and division, and finally addition and subtraction. Use explicit parentheses whenever an expression could be interpreted in more than one way. For trigonometry, confirm whether your angle is in degrees or radians before calculating sin, cos, or tan.

Σx

Mean, variance, and standard deviation

A quick guide to the numbers that describe the centre and spread of a data set.

Read guide

The mean is the sum of observations divided by the number of observations. Variance measures average squared distance from the mean. Population variance divides by n; sample variance divides by n − 1. Standard deviation is the square root of variance and is expressed in the same units as the original data.

%

Percentages, tax, and loan payments

Understand percentage change, flat-rate tax estimates, and the inputs that affect loan repayment.

Read guide

To find a percentage of an amount, multiply the amount by the percentage divided by 100. A flat tax estimate is taxable amount multiplied by the tax rate; real tax systems may include thresholds, deductions, and other rules. For a fixed-rate amortizing loan, the monthly payment depends on principal, monthly interest rate, and number of monthly payments. Always compare fees and the full repayment total.

√

Solving quadratic equations

Use the discriminant to determine whether a quadratic has real or complex roots.

Read guide

For ax² + bx + c = 0, the discriminant is D = b² − 4ac. If D is positive, there are two distinct real roots; if zero, there is one repeated real root; if negative, the roots are complex. The quadratic formula is x = (−b ± √D)/(2a), where a must not be zero.

Frequently asked questions

Is CalculatorMath360 free?

Yes. The included tools are free to use in your browser and do not require an account.

Are my calculations sent to a server?

The calculations in this starter website run in your browser. Do not enter sensitive or confidential information into any website unless you have reviewed its privacy practices.

Why is my trigonometry answer unexpected?

Check the selected angle mode. Degrees, radians, and gradians represent angles differently. For example, sin(30) is 0.5 in degree mode, but not in radian mode.

Does the tax calculator calculate official tax?

No. It applies a single flat percentage for estimation. Official tax liability depends on your jurisdiction, income type, exemptions, and other rules.

How accurate are the calculus tools?

The derivative uses a numerical finite-difference approximation, and the integral uses numerical Simpson integration. Results may be inaccurate for discontinuities, highly oscillatory functions, or poorly chosen intervals.

Can I use this website offline?

The layout and most tools are local files, but the scientific expression parser loads Math.js from a CDN. For fully offline use, download and bundle the Math.js browser library locally.
